So today Laura and I went and applied for our marriage license. ๐ We won’t have it in our hands until Monday earliest, but we signed and paid for it. ๐ And I’ve gotta tell you, we’re floating pretty high right now. I don’t know what it is, but just getting that piece of paper setup…it feels amazing. Knowing that we are getting married, and soon, is, I think, part of it. Knowing that soon we’ll be joining our lives together is another part. We are each other’s soulmate, know it, and have told each other as much. And speaking for myself, I think we’re blessed with that.
Oh, and as far as, “Getting excited yet, Chris?” As of today, yes. ๐
Not a very detailed or lengthy post, I admit. But one worth writing and sharing nonetheless.

Since I’m layed up at home sick (boo to the hoo!), I thought I’d write up a quick blog post. Been long enough since the last one, after all.
So Easter has come and gone, and all the remains between us and the wedding shower, bachelor and bachelorette parties is two work weeks and one more weekend. Should be a fun weekend, too. I’ll be doing my PADI certification dives so that Laura and I can go diving on our honeymoon. Laura, on the other hand, will be getting her dress fitted. Works out well since I’m not supposed to be at the fitting anyway.
About two or three weeks ago now we made final decisions on the cake, and are expecting to be sending out invitations sometime this week. Additionally, we’ll be adding a new item to our online (not Target) registry. You see, we are currently pursuing the possibility of getting a lot. Or rather, of buying a new construction on a particular lot. As such, one gift that we would really appreciate would be key money/help with a down payment. So if you’re interested in getting us a gift (really, we just appreciate that you’ll be celebrating with us), that will soon appear on the registry.
Otherwise life is just flying by far too fast. Sooner than we know it the wedding will have come and gone. That being said, we’re both looking forward to it and the official start of our life together. ๐
Take care,
-Chris
It was a long but amazing weekend here at Starship Kaukauna, what with two birthdays to celebrate (one more set of happy birthdays to Gloria and Laura) as well as a surprise party to fret over (and thank you to everyone who helped make that happen! ๐ Laura loved it!). Past that, I just got done ordering the groomsmen’s tux-replacement costumes and rank pips. Should be pretty great. The Pohlman wedding is going to hit its stride with a full complement of experienced officers on board if the rank pips are to be believed. ๐ But I’m tired, so that’s it for now. Have a great week everyone.
-Chris
P.S. Uniforms coming through Hellocosplay, rank pips and badges from Xscapes props and accessories, with premium rank pips from Anovos. In case you’re curious.
So it’s been, what, a month and two days since our last post? Whoops. :/ to be fair there hasn’t been all that much that’s changed. I mean, I have my info at Holy Cross now, so they know I’m a legit Catholic. Laura went in a week or two ago, I think, to take a look at her dress. We have an initial invite layout from our invite maker. Ooh, and also we sent invites out to the Pope, P!nk, and President Obama. We’ll see if any of them respond. Hoping, but not expecting anything. Though you never know with this Pope. Or P!nk, for that matter. I’ll be ordering the guys’ uniforms this weekend, and Anovos, from whom Laura and I ordered our rank pips, assures me that they will ship in March. Oh yeah, and of course it’s still frigid outside. But I don’t have to tell you that; we’re all in this Wisconsin flash-freezer together! ๐ …yay…
In other news, Laura and I celebrated our second Valentines Day together. We had egg fried rice with orange fake chicken thrown in for the entree, tempeh bacon-wrapped dates for appetizer and part if dessert, and pitted strawberries and sparkling Moscato for a proper dessert. I think we watched Kick Ass 2 to round out the night. How romantic, huh? ๐ But it was seriously a very nice evening with a very lovely lady.
So I think that wraps things up for now. We’ll certainly be posting more stuff coming up seeing as we’re a day short of four months out. Until then, take it easy!

Oh come on! You expected something different as a title to a post?! ๐ So last night Laura and I went in and talked to her uncle, Fr. Tom, who is going to be performing the mass part of the ceremony. We went over personal life stories (I may have mentioned how I’m from Krypton and Tom may have written down, “And he lies.”), shared how we met and got to be where we are, as well as went over mass details. Now before any of you who plan on attending the ceremony get too worried, yes we did request a full high mass and Tom was happy to oblige. He even said that he would cancel Saturday 4:30 mass so we could fit it in! (Remember, Chris lies.) What a guy that Fr. Tom, huh? ๐ But for real, it will be a normal Catholic mass with all the parts: 2 readings and a gospel; homily; communion.
Now the funny part of the evening was this: normally the meeting with paperwork takes 1.5 hours. We are doing some of the prep with Deacon Bruce at another time and it still took us an hour and ten minutes. lol I guess we got off track once or five times. But we did nail down a lot of the details and were at the same time reminded that there are people we need to talk to about doing readings, etc.
Also, today I emailed SJB in Plymouth about getting my baptism certificate, etc., sent to Holy Cross. It’s like the Church wants to make sure I’m a real card carrying Christian or something! lol So things are moving along these days. And it’s a good thing too as we’re closing in on 5 months- left until the wedding. Man, did that come up fast!
Until our next post, thanks for following and stay warm!

So last night we went to Signature Events in Neenah and started looking at invites. We quickly finished looking at invites as we found something we both really loved. ๐ Since it’s still a work in progress, obviously, I don’t have much detail to share. Suffice to say it’s simple yet elegant while also being environmentally green. Though knowing our wedding colors, it would be a good bet that it will actually be green as well. ๐ More details yet to come.
Thanks for checking in,
-Chris
Hello all, things are starting to come together as far as wedding planning goes. ย My bouquet is ready for me to pick up, and tonight Chris and I read through the church planning guide and picked out what readings we want to have at Mass. ย To all those wondering, don’t worry, we picked all of the longest ones. ๐ ย We still have a lot of Marriage prep to do but it feels good to have the Mass planned out. ย Wednesday we have an appointment with the person doing our invitations. ย It looks like the Shower and Bachelor/Bachelorette parties will be held on May 3rd. ย We will continue posting out here to make sure everyone stays in the loop. ย ๐
Have a great Day, can’t wait to see you in May! (for the shower/parties)

In case you didn’t get here from our website, just wanted to post out there that YAY! our wedding website is up and running!ย Full steam ahead! ๐ย Also, I met with Fr. Tom Pomeroy yesterday and worked through a couple questions Laura and I had on the Church’s requirements and how to go about satisfying them.ย Can be somewhat confusing! :Sย But, with that squared away we can look forward to what’s next.ย And what might that be?ย Looking at invitations next Wednesday as well as ordering the dress uniforms for the groomsmen (if the other three of them ever get me their measurements!) and I (mine didn’t quite fit right).ย Hopefully we can get the pants in black instead of navy blue!
Until the next update, take it easy.

Wow. Why did I ever choose to start with THAT post?! We can’t POSSIBLY include everything we’ve been doing in just ONE post!ย So I guess that this will just be part one.
Anyway, we’ve been hitting up wedding shows (like we did at Shopko Hall in Green Bay on January 4, 2014), booking our church (Holy Cross in Kaukauna), our reception hall (The District in Green Bay), our photographer, our DJ, ordering dresses (for the dudes) and dress uniforms (for the women) …scratch those last two, reverse them.
To her credit, Laura’s been doing far more than I have. She’s been working like mad on so many details, and I’m so lucky both to have her in my life and to have her doing so much so well for our wedding.
But anyway, just wanted to get a first post out here. We’ll keep updating things as we go including, as we can, pictures and video (when appropriate). Keep in the loop by following our website and this blog.
Oh, and Hello World! ๐
